It's not often I am worried but back in February I had some internal bleeding for about 5 days, anyone who knows me well enough knows I don't really do doctors or medicines. But there comes a point when I have to use common sense and seek medical advice, no matter how embarrassing it may seem.
An examination later it was looking OK, but too be extra safe I was referred to the hospital for further examinations and tests, it was then I couldn't help but feel a bit worried over the following weeks. Having lost a close school friend to cancer over Easter and one of my closest friends last February I was naturally worried. When you read the statistics that bowel cancer is the third most common type of cancer, with 30,800 new cases diagnosed each year in England.
This week I had camera take a look where the sun done shine and thankfully I got the all clear. It was certainly different watching a camera travel 60cm along your insides and I kind of imagined what it must be like for women during pregnancy - a great deal of discomfort!
My simple advice for anyone who experiences internal bleeding, go to the doctors/hospital and read up on the NHS website - another reminded of our priceless health service in England. I am also grateful for those who knew and were able to support during the past few weeks.
