A Spice New Year

These are the final robmacca pictures of 2007 and sum up my New Years Eve very well, it was a very Spice New Year. I watched the "Spice Girls: Giving You Everything" on BBC1 at 19:00 and then soaked in the bath at 20:00 with Radio 2 blasting out "The Return of the Spice Girls" concert from O2 Arena.
A quick photo shoot and then relaxing with a few beers watching some Spice Girls DVD's from various TV shows like TFI Friday. What a way to end the year!

My Anti-Social Christmas Lesson

robmacca tries to be anti-social

It was meant to be a nice and quiet Christmas, the one I had desired for a number of years. I don't celebrate Christmas but each year I've been kept busy because people think you can't be on your own at this time of year. So each year I've been social and each year I get back to work wishing I'd had time to myself.

So this year, I made my mind up to have time to myself and enjoy the three day holiday. As I looked forward to spending time alone, I also learnt a lesson. Being anti-social prompted a lot of friends to text or call, offer me dinner or to go around and watch DVD's. Although I turned all social invites down, it reminded me that I have a great bunch of friends around who do think of me - even though they don't need too.

I felt a bit bad at saying no, because it was like I was rejecting my friends - but I am stubborn and had resolved to be by myself during Christmas. I have periods where I want to be alone and love my own company yet I will try and balance that by socialising with friends 1-2-1 or going out socially.

It's good knowing people look out for you and care - so a big thanks to you all.

Christmas Drinking

Christmas lights in Birmingham

Although robmacca doesn't celebrate Christmas, any excuse to go out and party is always good. So after an evening meal with Martin and Paul, I drove back home with my windscreen wiper not working and fearing for my life as the rain came down. Thankfully I survived the drive and didn't get stopped by the police for my dodgy wiper.
When I got home I was more reluctant to go out because it was raining and already 10pm, but I didn't need much convincing. I joined my house mate and a few other friends in the Golden Cross pub and started to play catch up drinking. Then we went clubbing at Kasbah (formally Colosseum), the queue was massive and it was no better at the bar (pity you were restricted to only 5 drinks at a time). I think it took about 20 minutes to get served as my patience was tested to the full. The music was drum and bass in the main room and not my first choice in music but at least the fighting kept us entertained for a few minutes.
We ended up in the side room where the music was much more old school indie and more too my liking. Almost another fight in the toilet as some guy on his mobile phone was ready to start on a guy singing Christmas songs while peeing. Pity no-one started on the "freshen up for punani" who annoyingly wants to hound you as you try to wash your hands!
Several hours later and we were staggering home and eating pizza at 4am - job done!

Posh

robmacca at home

Yes another excuse to post some pictures - above is robmacca in his new "Posh" t-shirt from the gig and relaxing at home before going to the pub last night. Then we have the real Posh one, Victoria Beckham looking damn good even when out shopping in London on Wednesday.
I'm still on a Spice high 6 days after seeing the Spice Girls.................

Spice Girls at the O2 Arena

This picture of the Spice Girls at the O2 Arena two nights ago says it all really - 10 years later and they all look totally lush in their fab outfits. The crowds lapping up every single minute of the "Return of the Spice Girls" tour.

I never want the tour to finish because I am enjoying every single moment.

Return of the Spice Girls

Geri Halliwell is back on stage in an updated version of THAT iconic Union Jack dress. This Saturday and Sunday, I will be sat somewhere in the O2 Arena looking at it with my very own eyes. "The Return of the Spice Girls" reaches the UK and I am getting quite excited, the thought of singing along with thousands of fans and getting quite emotional at the farewell tour is what I've waited for these past 10 years.

The image of Geri Halliwell in her Union Jack is one of those lasting pictures that will never fade, so it's a bonus to see the new version looking hot hot hot..........................

Long live the Spice Girls!

I Feel So Tired

Having just spent 28 hours in bed and still feeling so ill, robmacca is full of flu. Not normally one to become subject to the notorious "man flu" syndrome, it takes a lot to stop robmacca but being zapped of any energy meant I had no choice but to stay in bed.

I guess working 40 hours in three days and getting caught in the rain several times, plus a lack of sleep all contributed. I should take the time off work to recover properly but I can't.

Ummmmmmmmm .......... this medicine is making me drowsy! Zzzzzzzz

Royal Mail's "Seasons Greetings"

Good to see that Royal Mail had not forgotten the good people of Coventry - just in time for Christmas bungling management from head office managed to deal one last blow to workers and customers across the city, by accidentally marking 5 branches on their website, with a big red "X", earmarking them for closure 7 months BEFORE the public consultation is due to begin.

It rounds off a PR disaster of a year for Royal Mail, with Coventry being hit hard by job losses and post office closures as well as industrial unrest as the Mail Centre and main post office faced being axed. At the same time top bosses awarded themselves a massive pay rise, while trying to force unacceptable changes to the vast majority of lower paid workers. Say no more Scrooge!

Curse The Internet!

I just want to scream "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
OK, that feels better!
Why oh why does the internet always go slow when you need to do as much as possible in a short space of time?
Poor old robmacca has less time online because it's that busy time of year at work and then there was the issue of booking tickets for flights, trains, concerts and more. I wish I could hibernate for the winter months ....................

Friendship Never Ends

A drunken night out in Birmingham and Coventry was the result of a reunion with some friends this weekend. Our friendship goes back to the days when we all worked together - then time and circumstances meant we all ended up in different jobs.

Yet our friendship has remained loyal as we periodically meet up and have a night out together, usually down in London, getting drunk and poking fun at each other. I didn't think I would last the night as I had only slept a couple of hours during the past few days, but I found the energy from somewhere to survive another night on the town.

The pictures show just a snippet of the night out with robmacca and co.
